A favorite garden variety. Purple skin peeks out above the soil, white skin below. Large roots taste mildly sweet and fine grained. Good greens for eating and an excellent keeper. Huge, thick, tender leaves with heavy yields, even in hot weather. Very easy to grow by direct seed or transplant. Eat spinach or beet greens. Excellent for layering into lasagna.
