- Some plants and fruits have been used as natural pain relievers for thousands of years. Many people experiencing different types of pain at various stages of life prefer natural alternatives, thinking they may have fewer side effects than medications. While these foods and herbs can ease pain by relaxing the body, it’s important not to overconsume them.

Dark-colored red grapes contain resveratrol, a powerful compound that blocks enzymes contributing to tissue degeneration. Studies suggest that resveratrol can help protect against cartilage damage that causes back pain.

Ginger
Used for over 2,000 years for digestive relief, ginger is also a potent natural painkiller. It helps alleviate nausea, soothes the stomach, and fights pain from arthritis and menstrual cramps. Research has shown ginger capsules can be as effective as anti-inflammatory drugs. A University of Miami study found that two-thirds of patients with chronic knee pain experienced reduced pain after six weeks of ginger extract use.
