Description
Ceylon Tea
Scientific Name: Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze
Family: Theaceae (Tea Family)
Ceylon Tea is renowned worldwide for its bright, crisp flavor and exceptional quality. Grown in the lush, mountainous regions of Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), this premium tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis. Depending on processing methods, it may be produced as black, green, white, or oolong tea. Traditional Ceylon Black Tea is celebrated for its invigorating aroma, rich amber color, and naturally occurring antioxidants that support overall wellness.
Plant Description
The tea plant is an evergreen shrub or small tree with glossy, dark green leaves and delicate white flowers with yellow centers. For premium tea production, the youngest leaves and leaf buds are hand-harvested, then carefully withered, rolled, oxidized (for black tea), and dried to preserve their distinctive flavor and beneficial plant compounds.
