Deeply traditional, earthy, and revered in Eastern herbalism, fo-ti is a classic root used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These dried root pieces of Polygonum multiflorum are typically prepared (processed) to enhance their tonic qualities and reduce harshness, making them suitable for long-standing herbal traditions focused on vitality and longevity.

Plant Description:
Fo-ti is a perennial climbing vine native to China. It produces heart-shaped leaves and small white or pinkish flowers. The root is thick and tuberous, harvested after several years of growth, then sliced into pieces and often processed (traditionally steamed with black beans) before drying.

Traditional Uses:
Fo-ti, known as He Shou Wu in Traditional Chinese Medicine, has been used for centuries as a longevity tonic.
